Around Cornice ridge

While walking below a steeper feature a skier remote triggered a size 1 slab above. The skier was partly burried up to their boot top! Widespread whumphing was heard around that area.

A layer of surface hoar up to 9mm was found down 45cm in a sparsely treed meadow, SW aspect. It produced easy propagating results in both extended column test and propagation saw test. Below it is 5cm of facets on top of a crust, which seemed to provide some friction once propagated. This layer did not appear to be present around ridgeline. Widespread whumphing throughout the day especially in the BTL.
