Avalanche Information
A handful of small loose avalanches on south alpine slopes caused by sun warming a small amount of recent snowfall.
Weather
Warming quickly, but temperatures stayed right around freezing level at 12,000 ft. Calm winds increased around 11-12 o'clock coming from the southwest.
Snowpack
On a northwest near treeline slope we failed to get propagating results (ECTX) despite a well-defined, strong (1 Finger) -over-weak (fist hard) structure. Digging on a west slope above treeline we found evidence that moisture has passed through the snowpack to weak grains at the ground during last week's warm temperatures and superficial freezes. The snowpack structure on this aspect is shallower and stronger than on aspects that tilt more north.
