Good outing for a more conservative day in the snow. Snowfall began earlier than expected, starting around 0800 and continuing steadily until our departure at 1430. Approximately 5 cm accumulated during that time, and it was still snowing when we left.
On the approach to the col (north aspect), a thin crust was present at ~30 cm; at the summit, this crust was found at ~15-20 cm. The overlying snowpack felt cohesive and well bonded, skiing as dense, supportive powder with good structure.
Riding quality was better than expected. No signs of recent avalanche activity were observed but visibility was very limited.
