Quick Observation
Today's goal was to start early and finish early because of the forecasted weather (minimize overhead exposure on sun affected slopes). Left the car at 7h30 to ski Ogden bench. On our way onton the lake, we observed multiple natural triggered avy (size 1-2.5), mainly from the steep rocky slopes of Ogden, see photos). We could also spot some avy from yesterday's natural cycle in the surrounding area (from Paget peak). We dug a snowpit (see snowpack tab) around 2100m, south facing, with a CT1 result on the windslab down 10cm. No results on the ECT. It was fairly warm by 11h00, with the sun really warming the area, but also windy in the alpine (higher than 2200m). We broke trail all th way up, and did not have any instability sign, even on the steeper alpine slopes up on the bench. The ski down was better than expected, with variable snow (better up top and heavier below 2000m). Overall a great day with great views, back to the car at 11h30 before it was too warm.
Snowpack
Dug a pit at 2100m, south aspect on a 30 deg alpine slope. No result on the ECT, CT1 down 10 cm on the wind slab at that spot (highly variable on the same slope). We wanted to see if the wind slab propagated (ECT), but it did not on our test. It is still very easy to trigger on isolated feature (CT1 result). Weather was sunny, around -2 deg.C. Test done at 10h00 am on the skin up.
