Quick Observation

Tuesday’s storm snow was bonding well to previous surfaces at Barnes today. Steep micro terrain features were hit hard by riders with no results. We couldn’t find the persistent weak layer above 1900 m and had no shooting cracks or whumpfing on terrain up to 30 degrees with no overhead hazard. At ridgetop the winds picked up to moderate from the north east , and with 50cm of new snow available for transport new windslabs were building on south east aspects near ridges. The north east winds were visible on the drive home too (photo of Mt Hosmer).
