Quick Observation

Skied partway into Big Blue today and was planning on setting up a camp, but turned around due to the extreme winds. The weather near the summit today was stormy, with intense blowing snow and sustained strong SW (>50 km/hr) winds with extreme gusts (>70 km/hr). Temp around -4c. There was zero visibility, and as such we could not see any avalanches. Ski penetration was 5 to 15 cms. Did not observe any whumpfs or shooting cracks. Driving back through White Pass tonight, the winds were still very strong, intense blowing snow, and it appeared to be snowing hard. Very deep snow drifts on the road and at times zero visibility made for some sporty driving.
