Terrible day in the Rolston Creek area. Skinning was difficult with 40cm ski penetration, slow sliding. Best part of the day was digging our snow profile and doing tests. The day started off with rain at valley bottom and soaked us before we even started skinning up the trail. Things cooled down around 1100m but travel was still difficult. Wind was whipping today and was starting to affect the snow even in the trees.
On the way into the pass several small slab debris were noticed and some fresher ones observed on the way home.
Temp at valley bottom was +3 and up at 1475m -3, freezing level was estimated to be 1100m. Windy we’re starting to affect the snow even in the trees.
We did several test all failures where on the new storm snow interface down 60 CTH21 SC, ECTP16 SC, RB4 WB
