We skied Needle North Bowl and Needle trees. Storm snow was reactive to skiers (observations around 1600m; size 1) some evidence of natural point releases on solar affected slopes (size 0.5). Low density storm snow sitting on a supportive crust was affected by periodic solar warming through out the day appeared to show slab properties by the afternoon.
A skier released a size 1 on a north facing and somewhat convex slope (approximate 35 to 40 deg). The skier was able to ski out of the avalanche to safety. Low density storm snow failed on the underlying crust (elevation: 1600 m). The crown ranged from about 10 to 40 cm and was approximately 30 m wide, the run out was approximately 50 m.
