Quick Observation
We went hunting for powder snow today and found it in very sheltered southeast facing tree line glades and very incised alpine bowls and couloirs. In these tree line glades, where the wind had not impacted the snowpack, the upper snowpack was very soft and faceted (sugary). As we transitioned into a sheltered alpine bowl, we found 10-15cm of powder on a firm, grippy base. If you get curious, and explore some of the further valleys away from the White Pass main valley, you can still find good quality riding. We saw no new avalanches and had very little concern for triggering an avalanche. That being said, we assessed the snowpack as we went and used good group management.
