Skiied up Crystal Ridge today. Supportive base provides lovely skinning up to alpine, approaching 70cm HS at TL, and then reducing in the wind-affected Alpine. HS was highly variable, however 60cms of moist, consolidated snow provides good skiing in protected lees.
Dug a pit, snowpack is moist to ground at 2350m on solar aspects. Compression Tests repeatedly failed on isolation at ground. No new avalanche activity. Air Temp was 4C at the car at 1:45PM.
Ridegtop is completely stripped; the backside of the ridge is getting close.
Bow Lake is completely unfrozen, which gave us wonderful views.
Feels like spring in the Kootenays!
