The Bad, The Good, and The Icing On The Cake

The Bad was the access. We had to ride mud and rocks until 1200m, about 4km up the Allen Creek trail. The Good was the riding in the Alpine and upper Treeline. Up high we found a few centimeters of soft snow over a firm surface that made for great travel conditions. That firm surface was the latest melt-freeze crust and beneath it the snowpack was well settled. At ridge crests we saw windslabs but they produced no results in tests. The icing on the cake was sunshine, a balmy temperature of 0 degrees and only light winds.
