Quick Observation

Cold and brilliantly sunny day in the north Alexander. Snow was a "supportive" powder that didn't feel deep until you lost momentum and started trenching. Probed more than 180cm in a couple locations and with a relatively dense snowpack it finally feels like there is a good base in this area. Did a quick column test on a west aspect at approx 1900 m. Sudden failure after a few medium hits, about 80 cm down. Didn't notice any signs of instability while riding. Didn't observe any recent large avalanches in the alpine.
