Fun day exploring Rutherford creek. We hit a skiff of snow on the Rutheford creek main at 800 m. Stagged at 1000 m with 5 cm of crust on the road to slide on.
30 cm of new snow sits on bare ground until the just before the shelter (1200 m). The snowpack at the shelter is about 70 cm. Only the surface 5 cm is dry. It may be possible to travel past the cabin - but the creek is still very much exposed and travel will be tedious.
We noted old avalanche debris at treeline and above from our most recent warming events. Moderate wind transport overnight was evident. But no new avalanche activity from last nights storm.
Fun day to be out… if it were November that is 😏
