Quick Observation
Balu pass and East Ridge toward 8812 Peak; ski simple terrain up to 35 degrees from 1330 meters to 2200 meters. Evidence of a natural cycle up to Size 3, all aspects. See pictures showing a few avalanches in 8812 Bowl and the Bruins Ridge avalanche that got mentioned in a few MIN reports. Height of Snow: Between 165cm to 180cm at 2200 meters on the East Ridge of Balu Pass. 65cm of 4F to 4F+ snow overlying the thin crust. Another laminated crust can be found 75 cm down, giving no result in the test profile. Test results: 2 X CTH22 (RP) down 65cm on the crust. No reaction to skier traffic.
