We rode into Summit Creek today and found a real mixed bag—everything from bulletproof windboard to chest-deep hero snow. What a difference a week makes though! The last 7 days of snowfall have really filled things in, burying willows, rocks, and other hazards and making travel much easier. It’s a fat snowpack out there.
Cornices are definitely growing and will be something to think about once things start warming up. For now, it’s still properly cold—around -20°C at the truck and pushing below -30°C with the north wind. We kept it short and sweet to avoid aggravating old frostbite 🤙
On an unrelated note; Fraser WX isn’t giving us snow height data anymore as some critter chewed through the cable! Anyone know what would commit this kind of terrorism?
