Quick Observation

Skied one north facing open glade/chute and one east facing open glade from 1900m today. First shot had few old tracks covered with 15cm while second run was all first tracks. Maybe 5 cm of new snow overnight at the trailhead. Previous heavy tree bombing under dense trees made for generally not much ski pen on the way up even off the old uptrack. About 15 cm of new light snow over the dense storm slab from last Sunday-Tuesday mega storm. Non tree bombed open gladed areas held 30 cm ski penetration. No wind affect from yesterday's strong winds was observed in the runs we skied. Small isolated storm slabs could be cut with some hard work about 60cm down on pillows, i.e. steep unsupported features. No other sign of instability observed. No faceshots were had and that is the only reason I am rating the ski quality as good instead of amazing, we're picky. ;) Only four other people shared the skin track and area with us. Once again, great to get away from the crowds on yet another busy Saturday in Rogers Pass.
