Quick Observation
Raining from valley bottom to 1600m all day. Above 1700m the snow quality was excellent with an average of 50 cm of recent HST over the Jan 28th SH/MFcr layer. Some whoomphing in a few open meadows were heard but significant lack of natural activity around. We observed minimal cracking today and all Test profile produce no significant results on the Jan 28. We were able Sc some very small avalanches at Ridge Crest on Lee slopes. These pockets lacked in energy to be able to propagate over features. Overall it feels like there’s either a lack of slab property where the SH was preserved and/or where we found wind slabs today the surface hoar was previously destroyed by the wind. We skied three Simple runs at TL and BTL where most features could only produce smaller then sz.2 avalanches.
Weather
Snowpack
We did a few quick test profile at 1900m on a NE and NWasp. All profiles produced no significant results. 40-50cm of soft snow (F) sits on top of the Jan 28 SH. The wind were loading northerly features all day and creating small wind slabs at ridge crest.
