Quick Observation
Spent April 3-6 at snowspider Hut. April 3rd was windy and snowing, with low could most of the day. Weather cleared on the 4th and temps started to go up but ski quality remained good into that afternoon before deteriorating the following day. Lots of audibles on the 4th and 5th. April 4th went up to ski the schlepoir, finding unconsolidated pow on North aspects on the way up the NE ridge. Feature itself held stiffer snow that felt right side up and unreactive to a ski cut at the roll over but popped on the 2nd turn. No involvement, bailed down the ridge due to other member of the party not being comfortable skiing the bed surface. April 5th skied lower slopes of snowspider, mediocre ski conditions improving though the day as the widespread breakable crust broke down. Skied out April 6th, crust was finally supportive on most non polar aspects and elevations in the morning, would have been good corn skiing around 11am.
Avalanche Information
Skier triggered size 2 avalanche in the schlepoir. Triggered on the 2nd turn, slab was 10 to 15 cm deep and propagated 15m wide across the feature and ran into the moraine, arresting at the top of the runout. Skier not involved, boot packed out and bailed down the ridge.
