Quick report
Skied up towards Squak Glacier. Found active wind transport tending to load W/SW aspects (would ballpark 25-30 mph winds at times) above treeline and a 1-2 inch breakable crust on all aspects. Below treeline, we kicked off pinwheels which grew to about the diameter of a car tire at times, and triggered one or two wet sluffs. Snow down low was pretty sticky/sloppy, save for the small Goldilocks corn elevation band just above treeline. Road becomes undrivable about 3 miles below the summer trailhead, and was snowmobile washboard from where we parked until the summer TH, with some large unavoidable patches of dirt. Honestly, skiing conditions were mostly crummy and I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this for any skiers/splitboarders looking for rippin’ turns in similar conditions. But hey, skiing is skiing!
