Quick report
- Large (4-5 ft diameter) rollerballs and evidence of shedding snow was widespread on south aspects. We saw debris but no active shedding. - South aspects corned up early in the day (by 10am) - Steep due north aspects still held soft, settled powder by early afternoon. - South aspects were extremely punchy on our last climb up around 2:30pm before exiting into the resort.
Avalanche
- We observed widespread crowns at the base of rock faces on steep north aspects. See photos. - We saw debris from a small avalanche in the Cupalo Rocks chute (likely triggered by a cornice collapse - see photo). - We saw one debris pile from a D1 wet avalanche on the SW face of Chinook Peak (we could not see the start zone - see photo).
