Quick report

Alex Lombardo and I got out in the Herman zone on Swiss Connection, Corona Bowl, and East Lodge Ridge. We found isolated wind slabs near ridgelines and moderate blowing snow, but no cracking or collapsing in the wind slabs we tested on test slopes. The wind has affected most slopes we toured on, with the snow surface being a mix of sastrugi, wind-deposits, sun-affected snow, breakable wind and/or sun crust, and scoured surfaces. South faces had a thin sun crust which didn’t seem like excellent skiing. East-faces were shedding readily while skiing and roller-balls were abundant, but we did not witness any active wet loose avalanches; lots of wet loose from yesterday, however.

Avalanche

Lots of wet loose activity from yesterday to D1.5, mostly on south-facing aspects
