Quick report

We rode Willow Creek this morning to have a look at the shallower snowpack there. Skies were clear with near freezing temperatures and light winds. Sledding conditions were surprisingly good with 20 cm of soft snow on top of the buried holiday crusts in some protected areas from the last wind event. Test slopes did not reveal any signs of unstable snow within the surface snow, including recently windloaded areas. Snowpack tests also did not indicate instability, including a focused test on the Dec 12th facets. Crust/facet combos near the top 1/3 of the snowpack will be worth monitoring, especially if it remains dry and cold for a while.
