Snowpack
The snowpack in this area is shallow and limited to northerly aspects, just like everywhere else in the forecast area. We encountered around 1 to 1.5 feet of snow near 8,500' on shaded slopes across NW-N-NE aspects. The snowpack generally consists of faceted snow on top of ice. Down near 8,000', there was 4 to 6 inches of snow cover, again mostly faceted snow. Along the ridgetops proper, a mix of faceted snow and firm, wind packed snow exists. Areas of wind slab were relatively small and did not reveal signs of instability. Sun exposed slopes are bare ground.
