Quick report
I toured in the bowl below Lakes Lookout today between 7500' and 8200' on mainly N-E facing aspects. I dug multiple snow pits to assess the recent storm snow. In my first snow pit (7800', N) I observed multiple SP fractures (CT3 down 12cm, CT21 down 35cm) within the top 30-35cm (1'), none of which were capability of propagation nor observed below cohesive slabs. I did observe a SP fracture at 48cm that I was unable to recreate in additional tests. In my second pit (7500', SE) I again observed SP fractures at 12cm (SP) and 30cm (RP). I suspect this most recent 12cm's is what avalanched higher in the bowl. Over all the top 1m (3') of the snowpack appears very well settled and density gradually increases with depth. I did not observe any signs of instability during my tour (no new avalanches, even on steep test slopes) and the snow quality was excellent. Air temperatures were measured between -2.5C and 0C between the hours of 1200-1400, and the surface snow was staying preserved in places devoid of solar radiaiton. In places with solar exposure the top 5cm of snow was well on its way to a hearty sun crust.
Avalanche
Recent storm slab and dry loose avalanches were plentiful in the bowl below Lee's and Lake's, most notably a size 1 storm slab on a steep north aspect that ran approximately 40-50m (120-150').
