January 12, 2026 from 11 AM to 2:00 PM. Clear skies with wind at Summit but not down below. Icy skin track on the ascent, lighter powder up higher morphing to heavier snow down below. Drop in point at 9300 feet on a forested north facing slope. South facing slopes were melted out and wind scoured. Surface hoar noted in the meadow at 7700 feet unchanged by the afternoon sun. Ski penetration in the powdery snow was about 6 inches to a foot. Boot penetration up to 2 feet.
