Quick report
Rambled all over the pass-region in support of participants in the (well run!) Patrol Race. Firm conditions in the morning near the pass rapidly gave way to sun-softening everywhere the light reached. Travel in the valley-bottom near Meany Lodge was surprisingly firm and speedy in the shade with a nice easterly breeze -- XC skiers can still find great tracks. Steepest sunny slopes near Meany could have been readily ski-cut if desired, but might have gone begrudgingly -- more mashed-potatoes than slurpee. Looking about at the hills in the morning and evening -- plenty more loose slides observed, but still no crowns. Perhaps tomorrow might be the day? Time will tell.
