Quick Observation
Morning poke into backcountry next to Powder King. Surface snow was low-moderate density powder that was less wind effected than we expected. Observed a natural size 1 avalanche that likely released in the last 12-24 hrs on a steep windward slope (see Avalanche section). Coverage up high is slowly getting better and there is good skiing to be had, but willows lower down are still lying in wait.
Avalanche Information
Natural size 1 avalanche on steep windloaded slope near Azu bowl. Dug a quick pit next to the crown. Snow depth 170 cm. Column failed at 1st hit from elbow (CTM11) down 17cm on 3-6mm surface hoar, sudden planar failure. Also a report of skier-triggered size 2 today on the peak above the T-bar.
