Numerous small natural size 1 avalanches in the past 24 hours failing on Dec 13th layer. Hand shear tests showed this layer to be about 30cm deep with surface hoar up to 15mm. In between the Dec 13th layer and the Dec 7th crust there are about 15cm of 4F facets. We had lots of cracking up to 5m long on the Dec 13th layer at treeline and below treeline. We turned around at 2000m as we started to find punchy wind affected snow and became concerned about avalanches.
