<p>2021-12-05. We completed the Dome traverse, starting at loop brook. Here are some observations/comments:
Travel from the parking to elepant trunk was mostly easy and straight forward. Crossing the river was not as challenging as expected as there was a couple decent snow bridges.
Elephant trunk is barely passable and felt quite exposed. With the crust/ice and exposure, we decided to bootpack this small section. Not sure if the bridge would support a lot of parties at the moment.
There was between 210cm to 300cm on the lily glacier, with a mix of deep snow and slippery crust .. Definetely bring the ski crampons at the moment. The upper lilly glacier was wind-affected.
We observed a pretty impressive crown below the dome, that was probably up to 1.5m high at places.
Dome col was not passable on skis. We had to boot pack and traverse over the exposed cliffs. Snow was soft enough that we didn't need crampons.
