Skies were FEW with temperatures around 10°F. Light NW winds. Previous wind transport, where I traveled, with some wind transport still occurring off higher ridges.

Where I dug today, I found a slab about 30cm thick sitting on top of facets and decomposing fragments that are directly on top of the Christmas crust. I had easy ECTP results at this crust/facet interface. A layer of facets has formed below the crust as well, and I had hard ECTN results at this lower crust/facet interface. There are no real basal facets in the snowpack here yet--the bottom 30cm consists of 1F-hard rounded facets.
