We were surprised that the small windslab layer ran the length of the ski runs and entrained enough snow on the way down to knock a person off their feet. With that in mind, we skied conservatively as there are still many early season hazards of tree wells and holes near boulders and logs to be swept into. Widespread cracking and collapsing on the Boulder Chutes uptrack and at the top of each run. Ski cuts produced small slides on each run.
Snowpack
Our snowpack assessment was limited to travel tests. An ~5cm widespread windslab layer was observed at the top of each run. Underneath the windslab was soft, light powder sitting on top of a crusty base.
Avalanche
Ski cuts on all steep terrain produced small, <D1 slides, roughly 5cm deep. These ran the length of the ski runs and entrained quite a bit of snow on the way down.
