Quick report
6-9 inches of low density new snow between 9-10k. New snow lies on a thin unsupportable melt freeze crust across all aspects that is bonding decently. Little to no wind affect on new snow surfaces with no new snow instability observed. Plenty of low density snow available for transport. Terrain is beginning to fill in, but still easy to trench through the ground and potentially hit obstacles. Found more concerning buried weak layers from Nov sitting below a cohesive slab of varying hardness. Firmer slab on southerly aspects and likely more sensitive to triggering than northerlies.
Snowpack
Warm temperatures prior to this storm cycle created a thin melt freeze crust that is unsupportable across all aspects above 9000'. New to old snow interface is bonding decently. Below this crust most locations contain a cohesive slab above weak facets of varying size and developement. Depth hoar present on northerlies. Propagation in both pits.
