Quick report

Red Flags
Heavy Snowfall, Wind Loading

I was out for a couple hours before it started snowing. Solar slopes had a solid freeze crust. Wind had been most everywhere but sheltered slopes were still pretty skiable with creamy slightly wind affected powder. Heavy snow fall and strong southwest winds throughout the day. It seemed the the new snow was not bonding well with old snow, particularly on the solar slopes with the freeze crust.

Instability Comment

Ridge top winds were sustained and strong. Wind drips were pretty sensitive.

Snowfall rates in excess of 1 inch per hour. Snow started around 10 am but was light until 11. Between 11-2 a good 4 inches fell in this area and was snowing hard when I left.
