New snow averaged 20cm, with less on exposed slopes and significantly more (up to 40cm) on lee loaded slopes and depressions such as gullies. Wind effect was prominent, most slopes had an upside down feel regardless of how sheltered the terrain was. Above 9200' found a more consistent 15cm 4F hard wind slab overlying softer F hard snow. Hand shear and kick turn tests failed easily, though steep, lee loaded start zones at ridge top elevations were stubborn and aside from localized cracking, little instability was observed in this location. New snow falling during the day was a mix of precip particles, graupel and ice pellets. Active wind loading during extent of ops hours today. Some solar radiation with moistening of the upper 2 cms during brief mid day clearing, but not enough for solar induced loose snow instability.
