Quick report

I took a couple short snowmobile rides in the Flathead Range looking for recent avalanches from this weekends storm.

  • Observed one D2 or D3 size avalanche on Mt Grant. Poor visibility made it difficult to get an accurate idea of size and avalanche type.
  • I had many views of mid-elevation and upper elevation start zones and observed no avalanche activity with the exception of the pile of debris previously mentioned.

Avalanche

- Observed one large (D2 or D3) avalanche on Mt. Grant. The starting zone was obscured by clouds, so I can’t confirm avalanche type. This may be the debris pile from a previously reported glide avalanches. The debris ran to valley floor. - The start zones of this path are above 7000 feet and generally face east and northeast. - Observed no recent avalanches in Dickey Creek.
