Toured to PP1 today with a group of four. The weather was cold to start, but otherwise it was a beautiful clear day in the Wasatch. At lower and low-mid elevations we found fresh snow on top of the rime crust from the weekend. Our hand shear tests showed moderate results, with the failures initiating around this crust layer.

We dug a test pit along a north facing ridge in the PP1 zone. The height of snow (HS) was 100cm. The top 70 cm of the snowpack was rightside up. The PWL was still present on the bottom 30 cm of the snow. Our extended column test resulted in ECTP14 with the crack initiating and propagating in the PWL.

The skiing was great in this zone with no shortage of options for fresh tracks!
