- Wind Loading, Collapsing, Poor Snowpack Structure
Spied a NW facing line on the north ridge of Little Water peak. While on the way up, partner heard a collapse, though we didn't see any movement. We dug a pit at about 9040'. Snowpack was only a meter deep with two distinct weak layers. The first was about 60 cm down. The second was the heavily faceted PWL at the ground. Column tests showed collapse and propagation as low as ECTP14 with both layers failing under the weight of the last storm cycle. We did not ride that slope.
