Quick report

Cracking
isolated

-isolated cracking on open slopes where thin (4cm) thick, 4F hard wind slabs on isolated terrain features. -found 4-8cm of recent snow on top of more unconsolidated powder in sheltered terrain, or on a thin sun crust on mostly southerly facing slopes. -Wx: colder winds (light to moderate) shifted from NE to W over the course of the day with S-1 snowfall. Sky was mostly cloud to obscured. Temps 15-20F. -the low density snow is available for transport in this area, however, winds haven’t been strong enough to produce significant slabs along or just below the ridgeline.

Avalanche

-SE aspect at approx 6500’, 4 dry loose avalanches. -intentionally triggered on slopes over 35 degrees, ran 150’ and entrained top 5-8cm of recent unconsolidated snow. D1-R1.
