Quick report
Today, we went to Buck Ridge riding towards Cedar Mountain. We had blue sky, sunshine, but unfortunately also pretty warm temperatures throughout the day.
The snow coverage is very shallow on the lower part of the road, and south facing sections are continuing to melt out.
On our way in, we observed a small wind slab underneath a cornice (probably from yesterday), but no other signs of instability.
We dug a pit on a north facing slope in First Yellow Mule near an old avalanche. We got an ECTN27 on top of a thin layer of small rounding facets.
Our second pit was on a north facing slope, that was wind loaded. The ECT results showed progagation on a facet layer (ECTP21) ~ 2ft below the snow surface.
