Quick report
A skier triggered avalanche approximately three turns into the slope; no one was caught, carried, or injured. The slope did not appear wind-affected, though a known rain crust was present ~45 cm below the snow surface. The avalanche occurred on a due east aspect at mid elevation (~6,310 ft). Estimated size was roughly D2.5. The slope was wide open and not forested. A good early-season reminder to be fully confident in terrain choices. Stay safe, and don’t hesitate to turn around. New storm snow on top of a rain crust 45cm down from top of the snowpack.
