Collapsing at 8700’ and 9200’. Our group dug several pits today. All of which showed signs of one or multiple persistent weak layers. The pit Todd and I dug at 9200’ on a wind slabbed south face had a total snow depth of 195cm our problem layer was observed roughly 40cm below the surface with a melt freeze crust between 149 and 154cm. CTH, Ectn 26 Our group limited exposure and stuck to inconsequential terrain as we discussed in our briefing. Overall impression is that the snowpack is still reacting to the load of the new snow. With multiple persistent weak layers across the entire snowpack. Traveling in avalanche terrain could trigger consequential avalanches.
