Quick report
Another cold but fun day out practicing our skills for our Avy 1 course today inbounds! We skinned through the trees on skiers right side of Goat Haunt and found a fluffy place to dig out a snow pit and conduct an ECT and a CT at 6398’ on a NW facing slope. HS187 in our pit at 42 degree, and on a convex slope. Did not have any failures or propagations in the CT or ECT, showing that the snow was relatively stable in that location. Breaking down/prying on the columns revealed a bumpy interface at about 60cm down that was not received during the ECT or CT. Weather was overcast, zero winds, light snow persisting throughout the day. No signs of instability or recent activity were detecting on the traverse over.
