Type

snowpack

Coordinates

49.396250, -123.186710

Quick Observation

Starting from lot 3b. Ski cutting while skinning produced cracking starting around 1050m. At 1100- 1200 more significant cohesive storm slab movement with successive stomping on convex rolls. Started our ski at 1200 as it seemed to be getting worse (wind and cracking) the higher we went. Many small 30-40cm slabs detaching underfoot on small convexities. We didn't see any larger propagation but the new storm snow is heavy and dense and requires a lot of attention and care.

Snowpack

pit dug on small convexity (35 deg) on SW aspect at 1150m where old growth becomes denser. CT 11-14 produced failure of heavy storm slab at 30-35cm in 3 successive tests.
