Spent the last few days @ 9800 feet in the Uintas near boundary creek and found significant potential to trigger an avalanche that fails at the ground. Observed 2 slides that had broken at the ground earlier in the week which appeared to be from natural triggers with rapid snow loading. Dug 4 pits today that all showed the same thing with aspect varying from 360° to 220°. All tests were ECT15 or less with near perfect shear and propagation. Stay away from open terrain @ or above treeline for the time being.

Instability Comment

As noted by many other forecasters in the region, near the ground there is an extremely loose granular layer that new snow is failing on.
