Quick Observation

Exploring up the Anzac we found some great snow conditions for both skiing and sledding. The area has recieved around 60cm of storm snow since Sunday. We saw many recent avalanches in the area that we suspect happened last Monday. Our snowpack tests showed a weak layer down around 55 to still be reactive (ECTP 28) so we picked some conservative lines to give the new snow a little more time to settle and bond. The warm temperatures should help with this, although south and west facing slopes will now have a sun crust on them as well as all slopes below about 1000m. Great riding to be found on north and east facing stuff still!
