Quick report
Observed avalanche debris on the NW aspect of Blueberry Knoll near Glen Alps (pic attached). Debris area was 100ft wide by 200ft long. Debris blocks were up to 1x4ft. Were partially covered by sequent snowfall or wind driven snow. Alpha angle = 26deg with steepest portion at 33deg. Crown varied from 1 to 1.5ft. Avalanche broke to ground with debris crossing the Flattop trail Did quick pit 50ft W of right flank of avalanche. TD = 37cm. Top down; 37-36 1mm surface hoar F; 36-25cm 0.5mm rounds P; 25cm-0 cm F decomposing stellers; (pic attached) ECT 22@25cm, ECT 26 to ground. No facets observed at ground level. Am guessing that this avalanche occurred at some point during storm event on 11/6-7 consisting of snowfall followed by wind transport and lee slope loading. Avalanche type: HS-U-R2-D2 The significance of this slide is that it just crossed what is probably the most heavily used trail in Alaska. Observed avalanche debris on this same slope two? years ago.
