Generally thin snowpack. Leeward zones had 70-80+cm (estimated, we did not have probe), but directly adjacent to bare ground. We climbed up the south side of Ptarmigan peak. There was about a 5 cm punchy windslab over fist hard facets up to around 4500', then up to 5000' became more supportable snow (4F to 1F). Surface snow was wind affected and rough, hopefully a nice surface for the next snow to bond to. We moved confidently in steeper avalanche terrain. There were no signs of instability. The bigger concern seemed the possibility of sliding falls into exposed rock in steeper snow climbing terrain.
