Quick Observation

Great skiing to be had in the alpine. Found some isolated windslabs in the inmediate lees of convexities and ridges. Average HS of 100cms in the alpine, where we were skiing. Found 10-15 cms of facets off the ground, to a highly variable melt freeze crust most likely from early October. 20 cms of smaller facets above the crust in some places. In places there was up to 70 cms of settled storm snow/wind slab sitting on top of these interfaces. Overall travel was exceptional in the alpine, but things thin out very quickly from treeline and below. We found a few isolated terrain features to test the windslabs that we thought was a concern, and were only able to get a few stubborn pockets to pop. All in all, we had some great skiing for Nov 1st!
