Not wanting to brave the roads or avalanche forecasts for my normal spots, I decided to take a walk to check conditions at the Brigham Face Wildlife Management Area following the overnight and continuing snow. Around 6,500 ft and lower, early afternoon, I encountered significant wind loading on west-facing slopes. Pressure propagated shooting cracks up to several feet in length, so that was the end of the ascent.
Most people won't be skiing around here, but it says a lot to the avalanche problems forming, even at lower elevations.
