Quick report

Cracking
widespread
Collapsing
widespread

Widespread cracking in sheltered areas at the graupel interface in the new snow. Cracks propagated out from skis on steeper slopes and near rollovers. In open, wind affected areas with a stiffer slab, observed widespread collapsing. Lots of small natural and human triggered soft slab avalanches on mid elevation steep slopes today. Slabs were sluggish, and oftentimes arrested before reaching the bottom of the slope.

Avalanche

Widespread SS-N-D1 below 8000’ many slopes on all aspects steeper than 35-40* slid naturally on what looked like the graupel from yesterday. One or two looked to have stepped down to the new/old snow interface. Multiple SS-ASc-D1-R1 below 8000’ on trail cuts, and steep gullies on E-S. Impressively wide propagation (~100’+) for slabs that were breaking 10cm deep.
